You will need

  • - Personal Computer;
  • - a special program for recovering deleted data, for example, Recuva.

Instruction

If you have deleted a file or folder to the trash, then there will be no problems with their restoration. To do this, you just need to go to the basket, for which you just need to double-click on its shortcut on the desktop or right-click on the "Open" option. After that, a new window will open in front of you, in which all previously deleted files will be presented. Find the object you need, right-click on it and click "Restore". In this case, the folder or other document will return to its original location, where it was before deletion. In the same way, you can simultaneously restore several objects by first selecting them with the mouse while holding down the Ctrl button.

If you have already managed to empty the basket, it will be a little more difficult. And for this you will have to use a special program designed to search for lost files. The compact and functional Recuva, which will need to be pre-installed on your computer, does an excellent job with this task. Download program available on internet sites.

Install program, but not to the local drive where the remote document was located (to search for files from the recycle bin, the program must be on drive D), and run it to search. Specify what exactly you want to find (text document, image, music, video, archive), and select the location of the file (for example, "Trash"). In the next window, check "Enable in-depth scan" and click the "Start" button. Wait for the search to end, select the document to restore and specify where exactly you want to save it.

To restore a deleted program, use the system rollback. To do this, from the "Start" menu on the desktop panel, go to the "Control Panel" section. Then select "Recovery" (in Windows 7) or in the "System and Security" menu in the "Action Center" section, select "Restore the computer to a previous state." Click on this link and select the last reference point. Roll back the system, and your program will again be on the computer.

Accidentally pressing the “Delete” key, and then an equally accidental hit on the “input” - and the folder with important documents ends up in the trash. And it happens that it was deleted intentionally, but after a while you realized your mistake. It is still possible to recover documents.

You will need

  • A computer.

Sometimes there are situations when you need to urgently provide computer assistance to a person, whether it is installing a program or something else, but at the same time you cannot meet the person in person. However, if both participants have the Internet, this is not difficult to do.

  1. Hello admin, answer the question, how to recover deleted files and preferably a free program? It so happened that I accidentally deleted a folder with files that I really needed from my computer (from the desktop), and emptied the trash and now I can’t restore my files in any way. I tried several free data recovery programs, but they didn't recover anything for me! All this looks like a simple deception, only time wasted. They also write a lot on the Internet about the DMDE program, although they say that it is one of the best in recovering deleted files and easy to use, but unfortunately I couldn’t figure it out without your help, when restoring, an error constantly comes up: Free Edition restores up to 4000 files from the current panel only. It would be great if you could give examples of file recovery using this program and help you understand it.
  2. Hi all. I accidentally formatted a whole partition of the hard disk with all the files and then only realized that the partition had not been formatted the one I needed, naturally all the files were gone. Is it possible recover deleted files And what program to use? I tried to use free data recovery utilities on my own, but nothing was restored. I want to try to use a paid program, but I just don’t know which one to choose and again I doubt if it will help, most likely they will swindle for money and that’s it. I read your article and now I think to dwell on it.
  3. Advise something, the computer hung up and had to turn it off abnormally, after turning it on, I found out that all partitions (F:), (H:), (J:) on the second terabyte hard disk were gone. All in Disk Management HDD defined as unallocated space. What should I do now, restore the entire partition completely or restore only the necessary folders with files? Please advise any programs.

How to recover deleted files

Hello friends, in this article we will recover deleted files with the free DMDE program, but it is not the only one of its kind, there are also (separate articles published) and paid ones, R-Studio,.

I will answer the third letter as follows: (read a separate article), but note to you, the site has very detailed articles on the topic of recovering deleted partitions, for example - "How to recover a deleted hard disk partition" or "Recovering a lost partition using a program", and also programs.

We have a long and interesting work ahead of us, but before that, I want to cheer you up and tell you one funny incident that happened at our work. A computer was brought to our organization on which a folder called "Project" was accidentally deleted from the desktop and it urgently needed to be restored. Of course, important files should always be copied at least to a USB flash drive, but this was not done. The computer belonged to an engineer from a friendly organization and in this folder were important documents that he had been working on for a month, the basket was empty. The worst thing is that the employee did not remember when the folder was deleted, maybe it happened even yesterday, and today from morning until lunch he worked in the operating system, copied various files and could well completely overwrite the deleted folder.

Several specialists tried to search for the missing folder with a special program before us, and it was found, but the files in it could not be opened. In short, everything was tried, and while people were trying to conjure over unreadable files in the Hex editor, I noticed that in the operating Windows system 7 had system restore enabled and worked great. Navigating to the C:\Users\Gocha folder, I right-clicked on the "Desktop" folder and selected "Properties"

and selected "Previous versions of files", naturally there were several "Desktop" folders to choose from, one version of the folder was created today by going to this folder

I discovered the loss - the "Project" folder, it remains to copy it to a USB flash drive and take it to the neighbors to the system administrators so that they do not suffer.

This is how friends also happen, and even very experienced people can forget about the elementary. So if you come across a similar case, first remember about simple file recovery tools and the first thing you pay attention to is "" and " ", do not forget about them.

In the life of any person, there are situations when the necessary files are deleted from the hard drive and, of course, he urgently needs to restore them. My advice to you, if the files are archival, for example, a sensible (and not as before) plan for the economic development of Russia for the next 15 years, then turn off the computer (better emergency), take the system unit in an armful and go to the data recovery service. Restoring your files to a professional will be much easier if no recovery attempts have been made by a non-professional before.

If you decide to recover deleted files yourself, then the first rule is not to restore them to the same hard drive where they were. The ideal option is to connect your hard drive to another system unit and from another operating system on which data recovery programs are installed and restore files to another hard drive. If there is no other computer, recover deleted files to a portable hard drive or flash drive, or you can use these.

What programs to recover deleted files?

The vast majority of users believe that there are a lot of such programs and all of them can really help you get back files accidentally deleted by the recycle bin or restore data on the hard drive after formatting it.

So friends, I want to express my opinion to you, based on a little experience. There are so many programs that can really help in trouble that you can count on the fingers of one hand, and if these programs do not help you, then you definitely cannot do without specialists.
We will recover files for free with programs: DMDE, Recuva and the relatively recently appeared R.saver, and we will also recover files with paid programs EasyRecovery, GetDataBack for NTFS and R-Studio. How to recover deleted files with DMDE DMDE is a free program for finding and recovering deleted files on hard drives and flash drives, it can also recover deleted partitions on a hard drive, it works without installation, you can carry it with you on a flash drive. The program has paid and free versions, but I can say that there will be enough opportunities for home needs. free version, now you will see everything for yourself.
And here is the official website of the DMDE program. Download the program, click GUI for Windows,

DMDE works without installation and is downloaded in an archive, unzip it and run the dmde.exe file. The DMDE program has detailed help for working with the program, be sure to read it. Attention! We work and do not miss anything, I will give three examples of recovering deleted files, the first is very simple, so to speak, for warming up, the second is more complicated, and the third is quite complicated, but we can handle it!

Example of recovering deleted files #1

I have two hard drives in my system, the first is a 250 GB Maxtor with my operating system, and the second Samsung hard drive belongs to a friend of mine, 120 GB, this disc contains two partitions, the first is (F:) with the installed operating system and the second partition under the letter (G:),

There were folders with files on it, and most importantly, a folder called "Collection", it contained films, photographs, documents. So, all the folders were accidentally deleted past the trash. All this needs to be restored, especially the "Collection" folder

Immediately after starting, the DMDE program asks on which hard drive to restore files. We select the second Samsung hard drive with the left mouse, then Logical drives / volumes on the right, a window appears in which we must select the drive letter. The drive we need under the letter (G :), select it and click OK.

The DMDE program uses a special algorithm to search for deleted files and in simple cases is able to recover such files on the fly without in-depth search. In this program window, double-click the left mouse on the section (G:) and go into it.

By double-clicking the left mouse go to the section (All found + reconstruction),

There is a virtual reconstruction of the file system or in simple words a quick search for deleted files.

That's all, our files along with the "Collection" folder are found and we do without an in-depth search (which we will use in the next more difficult case).

The program found the folders, but now you also need to restore them, tick the desired folder and right-click on it, in the menu that appears, click "Restore Object"

We select in the explorer which folder we will restore deleted files to, I advise you not to save the files to the disk from which you are restoring files, in our case (G :), it is better to save the data to a USB portable hard drive, having previously created a folder on it. In my case, there are not many files and I will save them directly to the desktop. OK.

And the error comes out: "Free Edition restores up to 4000 files only from the current panel"

All this is due to the fact that we use the free version of the program and we will not be able to restore a folder or several folders with files at once, but will be able to recover all files in any folder. To restore, we need to enter any folder and check all files. We enter the "Collection" folder and mark all the files necessary for recovery with checkmarks, right-click and select Restore files

In the explorer window, select the location to save the recovered files, for example, directly to the desktop.

File recovery process

All files are perfectly restored, movies are played, photos are opened, documents are read.

Now let's look at the second example, a more complex way to recover files.

Example of recovering deleted files #2

To test the program again. On the familiar Samsung hard drive, I myself deleted all the files from the drive (G :) and then formatted it, copied a large group of files to it and formatted it again.

We will search for the same folders with videos, photos and the "Collection" folder. We start our DMDE program. The program asks us - on which hard drive to restore files. We select the second Samsung hard drive with the left mouse, then Logical drives / volumes on the right, a window appears in which we must select the drive letter. The drive we need under the letter (G :), select it and click OK.

We try a quick search, double-click on the new volume (G:) with the left mouse.

Virtual reconstruction of the file system.

A quick search turned up nothing, no files reminiscent of the installed operating system were found. Therefore, we return to the "Disk Partitions" window,

highlight our " New volume(G:) and click the "Search NTFS" button

Attention: If your storage medium is formatted in the FAT32 file system, then select the "Search FAT" button

The search for deleted files begins, lasting 20 minutes. In difficult cases, you need to wait for 100 percent of the scan. Pay attention to the "Match" column, it can be used to evaluate the quality of file recovery on the found volume. Double click the left mouse on the first section,

Click on the section (All found + reconstruction).

Error reading MFT - do not pay attention.

As you can see, the advanced search has borne fruit, but the files found by the program are absolutely not the same. These files were located on this hard drive several years ago and at the moment we do not need them at all. I try to repeat the scan again, but the result is the same.

Friends, I have been using this program for a long time and in one case out of five you will succeed in recovering files after formatting, it's just that today we were not lucky.

And finally, the third example, which is very difficult to restore, and the program partially coped with it.

Example of recovering deleted files #3

From our Samsung hard drive, I deleted all files, then deleted all partitions, this is (F :) with the installed operating system and the second partition under the letter (G:). Then I formatted the hard drive and created one big new volume (H:) on it and copied a large group of files to it, then deleted them too, and finally deleted the created new volume (H:). Of course, after such files it will be difficult to recover any program specializing in data recovery.

Note: under such circumstances, we can try to recover the deleted partitions entirely along with the files, but we will describe this process in the next article.

We need to restore the folder called "Collection" located before formatting on the disk (G:). And I also want to restore a folder called "Archive" that was on the desktop, on the drive F:\Users\users\Desktop. Let me remind you that now instead of our partitions (F:) and (G:) there is just unallocated space.
We launch the DMDE program, there are no partitions on the Samsung hard drive now, so we check the "Physical devices" item, select our Samsung hard drive and click OK.

There is a quick search for deleted partitions,

As you can see, the last found partition fits the size of the disk (F :) with the operating system, let's first try to search for the remote "Archive" folder on it. Double click on it with the left mouse.

Click on the section (All found + reconstruction).

Virtual reconstruction of the file system.

The program did not find any files on the fly, go back, click on the "Disk Partitions" button,

select our found "New volume" and run a full search for deleted files, click the "Search NTFS" button

As I said, the "Match" column can be used to evaluate the quality of file recovery on the found volume. Let's wait for 100 percent scanning. The full scan lasted 30 minutes. Let's go to the first section

(All found + reconstruction)

And we see all the files of the operating system,

Go to desktop C:\Users\users\Desktop

And we restore our "Archive" folder with all the files in it.

One thing is inconvenient in the free version, it is impossible to restore the entire folder at once, you have to go into folders and select all the files, then restore them as a group.

Then I scanned all the found volumes and found many interesting files that ever existed on this hard drive, but unfortunately I could not find the "Collection" folder.
As you can see, our program has almost coped with the rather difficult case of recovering deleted files, and even after full formatting. So my opinion is that the program deserves to be in service with you.

Restoring a deleted folder is done using special programs that scan the surface of the hard drive. Unlike files, folder names are permanently lost when deleted. The required directory in the list of available for recovery can be found by the names of the files stored in it.

Installing Ontrack EasyRecovery

Run the installer and confirm that you agree to the terms of the license agreement. Like the entire application interface, the license text is published on English language. Select "I accept the agreement" and click "Next >" to proceed to the next step.

Specify the path on the hard drive where EasyRecovery will be installed. It is advisable to install the program in the wrong partition of the hard disk from which you want to restore the deleted folder. Otherwise, the recoverable data may be lost. The unpacked copy takes up 51.4 MB of disk space.

The next step is to edit the name of the application directory in the start menu. The default value can be left unchanged. After that, you will be able to specify whether you want to create a shortcut on the desktop. If necessary, before clicking "Next >", check the box in the "Create desktop shortcut" section.

Important! Do not install the application on the drive from which the data was deleted. If there is only one partition, write the program to a USB flash drive or external HDD.

Before starting to copy data, a window will open with the installation options selected in the previous steps. To change them, go back using the "< Back». Если опции указаны правильно, кликните «Install».

Wait while the program is unpacked and copied to your computer or laptop. This process is quite fast, on modern devices it takes no more than 20 seconds. If the progress bar stops at one place and does not change for a long time, cancel the setting using the "Cancel" button. Then start over from the beginning.

To run the utility and start restoring a deleted folder, check the box in the last window. Click the "Finish" button to close the installer.

Launching and activating the application

The first download of the program takes longer than subsequent downloads. Wait while the required data is loaded. During this time, the start screen will be displayed, stating that the license only allows the use of the product for non-commercial purposes.

An activation window will open, prompting you to select one of two options for using the program:

  1. Start trial.
  2. Purchase a license and get an activation code from the link.

Select "Run as Evaluation" to run a demo with a limit on the number of folders and files that can be recovered. If you purchased the paid version of the utility, enter the code in the bottom text box and click "Activate Now".

Note! The access key is valid for one year from the date of purchase. The cost of the paid version: from $79 for the Home version to $499 for the Enterprise version.

The first screen of the Recover Deleted Folders Wizard contains brief information about the application and a link to the developer's website. Click "Continue" to go to the next step.

Restoring deleted folders

Select the type of media on which the information was stored before it was deleted:

  • HDD
  • External storage
  • Optical disc (CD or DVD)
  • Multimedia or mobile device
  • RAID system

Click "Continue" to proceed to section selection.

The central table in the second step contains a list of all devices connected to the computer. If there are several partitions, they are displayed separately, indicating the type and amount of memory. Mark the desired disk and its partition.

Select the recovery scenario (program operation mode). Suggested options:

  • Section view
  • Recovering deleted files
  • Formatted Data Recovery
  • Deleting data
  • Disk Diagnostics
  • Disk Tools

At the fourth step of the wizard, the items selected earlier will be displayed. Check the correctness of the choice, and if necessary, make changes, go back using the "Go back" button. If the settings are correct, proceed to recover deleted folders.

The duration of the analysis depends on the amount of free space on the selected volume and its reading speed. The estimated remaining time is displayed below the progress bar and is labeled "Estimated remaining time". The number of found files and folders is displayed below. To temporarily stop scanning, click "Pause". You can cancel the process using the "Cancel" option.

Important! Early cancellation of the scan does not lead to the loss of the found information. Deleted files and folders that were found before canceling will be available.

Restoring directories is done using the "Save" button in the top menu of the utility. Since the original names are not restored, find the required information by looking at the names of the files saved in the folder. The search bar is located in the upper right corner of the application interface.

folder. This question appears on the net quite often. Such a problem, as a rule, occurs when users put things in order on the hard drive of their computer. At such moments, an inadvertent deletion of a folder that contained important information occurs. There are several ways to get a directory back. Depending on the situation, you must select one or another option in order to restore the deleted folder.

In fact, neither files nor folders are completely eliminated with hard drive. If the deletion occurred using the "to-do" button or the context menu, then the data will be located in a special directory called the trash. It is located on your desktop. In this case, I think you already know how to recover a deleted folder. We go into this basket, select the necessary object, and then on the panel, which is located on the left, click restore the object.

By the same principle, there are several more ways to restore a deleted folder. With the recycle bin open, highlight the file and call where to activate the restore function. You can also double-click on the desired object, after which a window called "Properties" should open in front of you. You must select the "General" tab in it, and then click on the restore button. It is located at the bottom of this window. As soon as you follow one of the above options, the deleted folder will appear in its original location.

The situation is aggravated when you have already managed to empty the trash. In this case, you can try to do a system restore procedure using a checkpoint. To do this, you need a point that was created even before you made the deletion. I must say right away that this method will be possible only if the creation of checkpoints was enabled at the time of deletion. If not, then there is no point in using this method.

So, using the "Start" button, you need to call the start menu. There you need to go to the programs tab and find a directory with standard system applications. Among these programs in the list you will see a directory with utility software. Look for the system recovery application in it as well. A window will appear in front of you in which you will need to select the required number. When you select it, click on the start procedure button. After waiting for it to complete and restart the computer, check whether the desired directory has appeared in its original place or not.

If this does not help, then there is only one way out. You must download and install one of the programs that are able to recover deleted data. One of the popular ones is EasyRecovery. But you can use some other. Their interface is similar, and it will not be difficult for you to figure it out. The drive where the deleted folder was located is indicated and it is scanned.

One of the suggested methods should solve your problem. That's all I can advise you. Now you know how to recover a deleted folder.

It so happened that I have a habit of deleting all files by skipping the trash (that is, by pressing the keyboard shortcut Shift+Del). On the one hand, this saves some time and immediately frees up space on the hard drive, but there is a downside to this habit: sometimes I select unnecessary files, and quite important files are deleted along with the trash. At the moment, the main thing is not to panic and do no more operations with the hard drive. Fortunately, there are quite a lot of programs for recovering files from any media, both after deletion and after formatting. Both paid and free. More recently, I have adopted an easy-to-use and free program called Recuva from the company Piriform because I still use them. CCleaner‘om. You can download it completely free of charge (if you choose the appropriate version) from the official website: http://www.piriform.com/recuva. Download and install, and I will show a small instruction.

How to recover a deleted file or folder using the free Recuva program.

1) I copied one file several times and created a folder from them to show how this program works. And then deleted all copies and the folder. Since Recuva is quite a powerful recovery package, especially for a free product, it can do more than just recover files from a specific folder. But first, let's run the program. On first launch, the Recuva Wizard window will open. If you wish, you can turn it off by checking the "Do not open the wizard at startup" checkbox, but this is a very good tool for simplifying file recovery, and I recommend using it. We press "Next".

2) You can shorten the list of found deleted files if you select the desired file type on this page. In my case, these are .bat files, so I choose All Files.

3) On this page, select the location where the files were before the final deletion. For example, if you emptied the trash and accidentally deleted the file you need, you need to select the "In the trash" item. I will set the place where my files were located.

4) The last page of the wizard. We press "Start". If after the first analysis your files were not found, you can re-run the wizard and check "Enable advanced search" on this page. This will significantly increase the search time for files, but will give better results.

5) A list of found files will be displayed. The program found all the files that I created and then deleted. As well as the folder in which I duplicated these files, and then deleted them in the same way. Select the files you need to restore and click the "Restore" button. Select a folder for recovery. Prerequisite: this folder should not be located on the same partition where the files you want to restore were located.
