Access to any site or resource is limited by the bandwidth of the channel through which this resource is connected to the World Wide Web, i.e. in fact - the speed with which the site will be able to give data to users connected to it. It is clear that the resource owner calculates the average number of visitors and, accordingly, pays for the minimum speed of access to his site required in this case. In the course of work, when the load on the resource is maximum, the speed of access to the site is significantly reduced and no longer depends on what speed the user will have to connect to the Internet.

And similar programs that allow you to make video and voice calls over the Internet require a minimum and even less - 512Kbps for their stable operation. Network Internet games do not depend directly on the very speed of your channel, such a parameter as “ping” is important for them - the time it takes for a data packet to reach the game server from your computer and vice versa. If this time is minimal and stable (10ms-100ms), then even at low channel speeds you can safely play advanced online games.

The exception in this case is video content services - online cinemas and TV broadcasting sites, the access speed to which for comfortable and high-quality viewing can be several Mbps (2-8 Mbps). Theoretically, an ADSL connection can provide you with such an opportunity, but in practice, this opportunity often remains unrealized due to the poor quality of subscriber lines or its long length.

The data transfer rate for analog modems reaches 56 kbps. The actual speed with dial-up access depends on many factors: the bandwidth of the external communication channel, the number of simultaneously connected users, the state of the telephone line.
The more users connect, the greater the bandwidth of the external channel should be. Therefore, the provider must have a multichannel telephone and a high-speed external communication channel, for example, with a speed of 30-60 Mbps and higher.
More promising is the ADSL technology (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line - asymmetric digital subscriber line), which allows you to transfer data over telephone networks at a speed of up to 8 Mbps to the subscriber and up to 1.5 Mbps from the subscriber (hence the name asymmetric).
The actual transmission speed depends on the length and quality of the line. Data exchange does not interfere with the telephone conversation due to the separation of signal frequency bands in the telephone line.
An ADSL connection requires a digital modem and a splitter.
Access via a dedicated channel is carried out by permanently connecting the user's computer to the provider's server. The provider conducts a dedicated line to the subscriber's computer and issues a permanent address. The cost of laying a leased line depends on the distance to the connection point of the provider. For individual users, this method of access is justified only when the laying of the line itself does not require significant costs. Recently, Internet connection via cable television networks has become widespread. There are two options. With an individual version, the cable modem is installed separately for each computer.
