The map in the minecraft game is the most important item for orienting in the game world.

Thanks to the map, you can understand where you are and where the necessary buildings, rivers, mountains and biomes are located.

But having made a map, novice players see only a small segment of the area, which shows the nearest trees and rivers.

And many gamers at this moment are wondering if there is such a possibility at all.

The answer is yes, it is possible in minecraft make a big map, which can show many kilometers around, and in this article we will describe in detail how to scarf her.

regular card

Before you start make a big map need craft a little with a coverage size of 128 by 128 blocks.

1. First you need to find sugar cane that can be used to make paper. To do this, open the workbench panel and place three reeds in the middle row. In total, you will need eight papers to create a card.

2. Also, to create a map, you need one compass, you can make it from four ingots and one red dust arranged in the following order:

- In the top row, an iron ingot in the middle;

- In the middle row, iron ingots on the sides and red dust in the middle.

- In the bottom row as well as in the top.

  • In addition, the compass can be bought in the village from the librarian for 10 emeralds.

3. Now you can start creating a map, to make it, open the workbench and place the compass in the center, and eight papers around it.

Having made a map, open it by pressing RMB, the surface of the game world will be automatically outlined on paper.

Large map craft

So, having made a small map, you can proceed to crafting big having a size of 256×256 blocks.

To do this, open the workbench and place the card in the center, and eight papers around it.

As a result, an additional empty space will appear on the map.

To fully draw the map, go to unfilled areas, and the image will appear automatically.

The maximum map has a size of 2048×2048 blocks, this is quite enough to see entire islands and continents.

Now you know, how to make a big map in minecraft. Also, to save paper and effort, you can simply clone (redraw) the map.

To redraw, open the workbench and place the filled card in the middle and the empty one on the side.

By the way, the map can be hung on the wall using a frame.

In the soul of each of us lives a traveler. And even if not everyone manages to make a trip around the world, we still dream about it and, as far as possible, visit other countries. Geographic maps in the interior can be viewed endlessly. Maps of the world not only give aesthetic pleasure from contemplation, but also create a light atmosphere of romance and adventure, evoke pleasant thoughts about distant lands and memories of your trips. We offer to see how you can use world maps in the interior of the house.

1. Geographical maps in the interior as wallpaper

The geographical map on the wall will become the central decorative element of the interior of the room. Today we will not consider the standard option of placing a small map of the world on the wall in a frame or simply pinned with buttons. But if you have a large geographical map, then you can completely paste over the wall with it. In addition, now you can purchase or order photo wallpaper with your chosen image or vinyl decorative wall stickers. Maps in the interior can be modern, vintage navigation or abstract stylized. It can be a map of the world, a part of the world, a country, a city, or a metro map. Most often, the walls of the bedroom are decorated with the image of the world map, but you can decorate the walls in this way in any room - bathroom, nursery, living room or kitchen. You can use different near-themed children's wall stickers.

A very interesting option for a child's room. Climbing holds are fixed on the wall with a geographical map, and soft mats are placed under them.

Pay attention to the map - it is made in the style of fantasy and also "inverted". Instead of continents, there are oceans, and kingdoms are located in place of water spaces.

For interiors with modern modern styles, hi-tech, stylized images of continents in the form of dots, lines, letters and other artistic techniques are suitable.

2. Geographic maps in the interior in the design of the floor and ceiling

If the decor of the walls with geographical maps is quite common, then it is rare to find such a design of the floor or ceiling. However, this is also an interesting and original option. Don't turn the whole room into a map of the world. If you decide to decorate the floor with maps, you don’t need to decorate both the walls and the ceiling with them, it’s enough to support the general theme with small world maps in frames on the wall or in accessories.

Although here is an interesting solution, when the photo wallpaper with the image of a geographical map smoothly passes to the ceiling. But in this case, in order not to overdo it, there are no more items with cards in the room.

3. Decorating doors and windows with world maps

Geographic maps in the interior may be present as curtains or blinds on the windows. They can be made both with your own hands and ordered from manufacturers.

4. Furniture with maps

World maps can decorate different furniture. Geographical maps cease to be just maps, turning into a decorative covering for cabinets, chests of drawers and other pieces of furniture. As a rule, a paper card is glued to furniture using decoupage technique. And it looks much more interesting than just hanging a map on the wall.

Any chest of drawers with card decor will be unique. You can either completely cover the entire surface of the chest of drawers, or decorate only the drawers.

In the same way, you can decorate the cabinet doors.

And in this chair and table decoupage in its purest form. Geographic maps cover all the details of the furniture, from the legs to the crossbars on the back.

5. Lamps with geographical maps

World maps, illuminated from the inside by a lamp, acquire volume and look very unusual. But glue geographic Maps it is better to use factory shades and lampshades for safety purposes, and even cover everything with a fire-fighting compound for fabric or wood.

6. Geographic maps in the design of interior items

Many small items and accessories will support the geographical theme of the interior. Pictures and photo frames, boxes and coasters, watches and dishes - all this you can paste over with cards or do decoupage. Nowadays, the time of active use of GPS navigators, paper road maps have become practically unnecessary. Therefore, you can easily collect different cards from friends and acquaintances and make a lot of cute and useful things for the interior out of them.

The winter cold outside the window and drifts on the roads are not very pleasing to fans of outdoor activities and tourism, but they give enough time to finally make out the pictures, routes and impressions from past trips. So right now is the time best time to report on their adventures and plan itineraries for the future. Of course, all travelers know and actively use the excellent Google Maps service for these purposes. However, the list of map services does not end there, and in this article you will learn about worthy alternative tools for creating, publishing and analyzing custom maps.

Scribble Maps is an online service that sets it apart from many of its competitors in that it is a great service for both beginners and experts in the field of cartography. Its simplicity and functionality make Scribble Maps one of the most popular mapping applications in education and science. The service offers users a wide range of options, including mapping maps, measuring distances, importing KML data, importing tabular data, applying custom labels, text, images, and much more.

open street map

The Open Street Map (OSM) service professes the same principles that formed the basis for the creation of the world-famous Wikipedia. All the information here is collected by the efforts of tens of thousands of volunteers who provide the project with data from personal GPS trackers, aerial photographs, video recordings, satellite images and street panoramas. Although the accuracy of this data varies considerably by region, it is still safe to say that OSM for some areas contains more detailed and up-to-date information than Google Maps.

For all registered users, the function of editing maps is available. You can export data from your GPS device, draw routes manually, put markers, mark interesting and memorable places, give descriptions and comments. It is possible to export maps in OpenStreetMap XML format or as an image (PNG, JPEG, SVG, PD), you can also get an HTML code to embed on any site.

Build-A-Map

Although Build-A-Map makes a somewhat frivolous impression with its large bright icons, it is still quite an adult tool for creating maps and diagrams. The source of cartographic information here is Google Maps, on top of which the user can create their own layers and apply the necessary data to them.

The Build-A-Map service allows you to add not only banal marks and tracks, but also text labels, circles, polygonal shapes, lightboxes with photos, lay routes, and so on. To all this, you can embed weather information, Google Places points, Panoramio photo hosting images. The map obtained in this way can be saved in the service storage and displayed as a link to it, or you can get a code for embedding in a web page.

tripline

The Tripline service is unlikely to be able to help in developing a route for serious travel, but for creating a multimedia presentation about the roads traveled, it is just perfect. In its work, the service combines three components: a track of your route, photos and musical accompaniment that best reflects the spirit of your adventure.

Putting it all together, the service will generate a spectacular story about your impressions, during which the viewer will move around the map along the route you have done and see photos tied to the shooting location. All this with great music, of course. After spending one effort after a trip to create such an interactive report, you can insert it on your page or blog, send it to all your relatives and publish it on social networks.

ZeeMaps

ZeeMaps provides users with a fast and easy way to create and share interactive maps of the world. With it, you can visualize tracks on the map in KML, KMZ or GeoRSS formats, add your marks and comments. A distinctive feature of this service is the ability to work with tabular data. So, if you have a table with the coordinates of the desired points or, for example, the addresses of your customers, then you can feed this data to ZeeMaps, and it will accurately map it.

All maps are stored on the servers of the service and can be accessed at any time via a unique link. In addition, it is possible to print the map, save it as an image and get an html code to embed in a website or blog.

tripgeo

This service is interesting because it allows you not only to lay a track on the map, but also to see how it will look in reality. TripGeo uses data from Google Maps and Google Street View and combines them in one interface, allowing you to take a virtual trip along the chosen route.

You will need to indicate the start and finish points, as well as the desired mode of transportation (car, bicycle, on foot). In addition, you should specify a few more parameters regarding the rendering speed and image scale, after which TripGeo will select the optimal trajectory for you and immediately create a special widget in which the lower part will display a map, and the upper part will show the real view of this place. You just have to click on the Play button and go on a journey.

The TripGeo service can do a good job not only in preparing a trip, allowing you to more accurately find out information about the area, but also if you need a detailed explanation, for example, for guests of the city, driving directions. Now you do not have to explain by phone the signs of the street you need to turn into, you just send a link to the route created in TripGeo, and the person will definitely reach the destination.

The QuickMaps service fully justifies its name: you can make a map here as quickly as possible. To do this, you do not even need to register - just come up with a name for the card, a short description and you can get down to business.

Although at first glance it may seem that there are not so many tools here, in fact, everything you need is present. You can mark tracks with straight lines or freehand drawing, make text marks, import KML or GPX files from the web and upload them from your computer. And in terms of various markers, QuickMaps can give odds to much more serious services.

Map constructor (Yandex)

This service is part of the Yandex.Maps project and draws information, of course, from there. In very many cases, especially when it comes to the territory of Ukraine or Russia, these data can be even more accurate and detailed than those of foreign competitors. The map constructor allows you to draw a route, measure distances, draw polygons, put points on the map section you need. Markers here can only be of one type, but each can be accompanied by a number and a comment that will appear when you click on a point.

You can save the finished map and immediately get a code to insert into your website or blog. The capabilities of the service are best suited for creating interactive maps that show, for example, the location of your company or store, a driving route, or a gathering point for a social event.

Animaps

As the creators of the service hint to us in its name, it serves to create animated maps. With its help, you can create a real multimedia presentation, where, according to the scenario you set, routes will be drawn, markers will appear and disappear, photos and even videos will be shown at the right points. To evaluate the capabilities of the service, it is best to look at one of the maps created by its forces.

The main feature of this service is that you can use it to accurately display not only the events that happened to you on the way, but also the temporal dynamics of the trip. Thus, Animaps is probably the most suitable service for creating an interactive report, after looking at which everyone will receive comprehensive information about your trip.

Bing Maps

Mapping service Bing Maps has long been somewhat in the shadow of its main competitor. And completely in vain - after the beginning of the friendship between Microsoft and Nokia, this service began to use data from Nokia Maps, which have always been distinguished by good coverage and excellent detail.

As part of Bing Maps, the user receives only a minimum of functions necessary for building a map, namely, placing markers, drawing tracks and polygons with various types of lines, adding photos and comments.

To demonstrate the finished map, you need to save it, after which you can get a direct link to the map and a code for embedding in any web page.

Conclusion

In this article, we reviewed ten services designed to create, edit, and publish custom maps. All of them have their own characteristics and different functionality, so choosing the best one depends heavily on the tasks you are facing. If you just need to make a location map for the site, then the easiest and most convenient way is to use the Map Constructor from Yandex or QuickMaps. If you need to make an informative report about your trip, it is better to pay attention to Tripline and Animaps, which allow you not only to attach photos and videos to the track, but also wrap it all in a spectacular shell. Well, for really serious work with maps, you should use Scribble Maps or Open Street Map, which have very rich functionality.

This is one of several map tutorials I'm creating for , an amazing group that I'm helping to grow.

If you used this tutorial, tell me, show me, I would really like to see what you did! And feel free to ask questions too!

For this tutorial you will need a font. Booter Zero Five(see link at the end of the lesson).

This map making tutorial involves (made up) maps that look more like fantasy or pirate maps. There are no elements of the environment on them. If you want to create a map for your world / just for fun / or for something else, you will get it, in just one hour of work!

Before you begin... you'll need Photoshop, a map file, and a font (see link at the end of the tutorial). It would also be nice to have a scanned photo of some landscape that you would like to depict on your computer. I used Photoshop CS3 Extended to create my map. I also used brushes for some of the steps.

STEP 1

Take a close look at this screenshot. Don't forget to Save it As (Save as...) and create a background layer.

STEP 2

Click on the image to view the image in full size and 100% quality.

If you have a sketch, scan it or open a photo. Open it in a separate PS file, increase its brightness if necessary (Image – Correction – Brightness / Contrast) (Image – Adjustments – Brighten / Contrast). Insert the image by dragging it with the mouse onto the map file. You can resize the image in two ways: either by clicking Edit – Transform – Resize (Edit – Transform – Scale), or, while holding the SHIFT key, pull the diagonal arrows that appear at the corners of the image.

STEP 3

Whether you imported an image or not, create a new layer on top of the Map layer, grab your brush and start painting your terrain. It is better to make it a little larger than the image itself.

STEP 4

After completing the sketch, take the Eraser (eraser) and walk along the outer edges of the sketch. They will be crooked and out of line, so you will need to go over these lines a few times to clean everything up. If you want to make islands, make them now.

STEP 5

Click on the image to view the image in full size and 100% quality.

Now you can take the tool Quick selection (quick selection tool) and select everything that is outside of your land. After that, we start to erase even more; no continent or country is perfectly straight, round or angular. Let's add debris, depressions and cracks all over our map! =P Also, add some non-ideal-shaped rivers and lakes. Your people will surely need water to survive!

STEP 6

Click on the image to view the image in full size and 100% quality.

Population! Open the group Cities (Cities), and make the Capitol...more precisely the Capital (capital turned into capitol by mistake) and the City (town) visible. The capital is circled in red. You will probably have more than one settlement / city / village / etc., and here's how to multiply them: click the second mouse button on the layer with the City (town) and select Duplicate layer / Make a duplicate (duplicate layer) in the list that will appear. The new city will appear on top of your original city. Remember this for the next step!

STEP 7

Open the group Landscape (landscape). You have a choice of more realistic and freehand drawing-like objects. To keep the picture from looking ridiculous, use only one of these styles. You can place these objects wherever you want, and you can also duplicate (multiply) them. When planting trees on your plot, place mountains, rocks, and forests, consider the environment if you haven't already. Civilization and vegetation, for example, usually spawn where there are water sources. If you need to resize something, use the technique described in STEP 2.

STEP 8

Click on the image to view the image in full size and 100% quality.

Open the group Text (text). It contains the following layers: the name of the River/Forest/forest name), the name of the City (town name), and the name of the Continent (continent name). You can use a wider variety of fonts (eg Calibri for forest names, Juice for country names, etc.). The easiest way to make the font fit is to duplicate the original text and change its font. Next, we play with effects. In this case, the outer glow and drop shadow look very good here. Don't forget to give names to all worlds, continents, countries, regions, states, villages, settlements, cities, capitals, oceans, rivers, lakes, mountains and plains. You don't have to name every detail on the map, but it will hurt your eyes.

And it's done! WOW! Well, at least not unless you really want to make your map something one of a kind. If you still want...

ACCESS TO THE NEW LEVEL IS OPEN!!

Scroll down the page to see the most interesting, but absolutely optional effects that can be applied to the map.

SUPER DRUPER EFFECTS

The following is optional, but it contains some information that will help improve your map.

Card Paper

If you want more focus and texture on your map, you can change the background! First, create a new layer on top of the map layer. Take a brush, choose white color, and get to work. Personally, I like scatter brushes for this, but you can use any other brushes, for example, with coins, ships, animals, plants, etc.

Pay attention to the screenshot below, where you can see the changes after processing with a brush. If you are using a diffuse brush (or any other brush with unusual patterns), use it to paint over the entire surface of the map so that there are no empty spaces.

Add Brightness

Is your map not bright enough for you? Click Image – Correction (Image – Adjustments) and the following options will open before you: Tone / Saturation (Hue / Saturation), Brightness / Contrast (Brightness / Contrast) and Curves (Curves), which are the best corrective options for our map. Go ahead, experiment! Notice the difference between this screenshot and the one above. Thanks to the Brightness/Contrast correction.

Guide Arrows

No decent map is complete without a compass!

The layer with Compass (compass) is placed under the group of layers Landscape (landscape). Place it in an area where there is no land, adjusting the size if necessary. I also like to add all sorts of effects to the compass. Experiment! On the screenshot you can see my favorite settings (the words highlighted with a “marker” are the names of various effects).

Click on the image to view the image in full size and 100% quality.

Watermark - protection from paranoids (me, inclusive). Watermarks can protect your work from theft. If you have your own signature - or even if you want to use your name, e-mail, dA page address - you can add it. Create a new layer (regular or text). All you have to do is add a "watermark" to the new layer, resize it and reduce the opacity (Opacity) or leave it as you like. Speaking of watermarks and things to like... this whole tutorial is watermarked... don't even think about stealing it!

Also, if you want to create paths and signs on the map to give it a taste of ADVENTURE, just add a new layer on top of the terrain layer (land), take a brush, choose a color close to the color of the map, and paint! You can also use humorous brushes, like the sea dragon on my map.

Click on the image to view the image in full size and 100% quality.
