Basic information:

  • For each specialization of each class, there is an artifact - thus, there are 36 artifacts in the Legion. This is an exceptionally powerful weapon.
  • To get an artifact, you need to complete the quest chain for your specialization. During the quests you will learn a lot of information about the famous characters of the game.
  • The Artifact is the character's main weapon in the Legion. There is no more powerful weapon.
  • Artifact traits/talents (Traits) are passive abilities that improve the abilities of your class.
  • Relics are items that can be inserted into an artifact to enhance certain weapon traits and increase the level of the item.
  • Artifact Power grows as Artifact Power is gained. This unlocks new available traits and relics.
  • Artifact Knowledge is a system that allows players to obtain artifacts for secondary specializations faster. All artifacts for your class can be obtained through the class hall campaign.
  • Artifacts come in a variety of styles and colors that can be unlocked through certain actions. Artifacts can be transmogrified into other weapons, but weapons cannot be made into Artifact skins.

Traits / talents are passive skills that enhance the abilities of a particular specialization. When you first get your artifact, the first trait is active (and quite powerful - like Phoenix Flames for mages).

  • To select new traits, simply click on your artifact.
  • Most traits have 3 upgrade ranks. You need to spend Artifact Power to increase the rank of traits - and this will make them more powerful.
  • Some talents have a golden dragon border around them. Such talents have a more noticeable effect on the game and usually have separate visual effects.
  • The number of upgrade ranks also increases the character's Stamina.

Artifact relics

A complete list of artifact relics can be viewed at wowhead.

Relics can be inserted into your artifact to increase the level of the item. Each relic also allows you to increase the rank of one feature of the artifact.

  • The maximum rank for traits is 6/6.
  • There are different types of relics, and only certain types can be inserted into each artifact. For example, Shadow Priests can insert 2 Shadow Relics and 1 Blood Relic, and Frost Mages can insert 2 Frost Relics and 1 Arcane Relic.
  • A relic enhances a certain feature of an artifact. Wherein not all specializations of the same class can receive a bonus from a certain relic.
  • Relics cannot be removed from an artifact: when replacing, the old relic is destroyed. Unused relics can be sold to a merchant or disenchanted.
  • Relics come in different qualities - Uncommon, Rare, and Epic.
  • You can get relics as a reward for tasks, from bosses in dungeons and raids, as well as through professions. The quality of the quest reward relic can randomly upgrade from Uncommon to Rare / Rare to Epic.

How to get an artifact in WoW

All classes receive their artifact through the completion of the introductory quest chain. In this case, you will need to use the unique abilities of your specialization.

For example, Survival hunters will actively use traps, and Assassination rogues will move around Stormwind in Stealth mode.

At the end of the quests, you gain access to the class hall, as well as learning how to operate an artifact and a command table for missions in the hall.

By completing missions in the class hall, you can get quest items that open access to artifacts of other specializations of your class.

Artifact Power

Artifact talents can be upgraded using Artifact Power.

Artifact power in the Legion can be obtained in different ways:

  • Completing major quests;
  • Killing bosses in dungeons and raids;
  • Treasure search;
  • Passage of random heroes.

To apply an item that grants Artifact Power, right-click on the item and then on the desired weapon.

As you develop an artifact, the cost of subsequent levels of each trait increases, and quite a lot. To pump the first talent, you need 100 units of Strength, and then this number can go up to 6000-8000.

Artifact Knowledge

Artifact Knowledge is required to increase the amount of Artifact Power you gain from items.

  • Level 110 players can return special books found around the world to the NPC Explorer in the class hall.
  • To research the tome, you need to spend Stronghold Resources. When the research is completed, you will receive more Artifact Knowledge points. Here is a list of volumes associated with leveling Artifact Power.
  • This increase applies to most items that grant Artifact Power, but not all.
  • Artifact Knowledge increases the rate of gaining Artifact Power on the character and applies to all artifacts. This will be useful if you are leveling artifacts for different specializations.
  • Artifact Knowledge will be gained faster as the expansion progresses.

Appearance of artifacts

Each artifact has 6 appearance styles, and each style has 4 color options - i.e. total 24 appearance options.

Each color option opens in a different way. For example:

  • Obtaining 2, 5, 9, 13 levels of prestige;
  • Achievement Loremaster of the Legion ;
  • Achievement Rise of the Traitor (kill Gul'Dan)
  • Achievement to kill 8 world bosses;
  • Achievement Hidden Potential (something secret).

An artifact can be transmogrified into anything, but the appearance of an artifact cannot be given to other weapons.

Hidden Artifact Effects

Artifacts in Legion may have some hidden effects.

One of the developers put it this way:

"When dealing with items as powerful as some of the artifacts players will receive in Legion, no one knows what mysterious things can happen."

There are several speculations about what might be the hidden artifact effects in Legion:

  • Hunter Charge , Feral Druid: Ashhide's claws are imbued with the blood of beasts, providing a 3% bonus to haste. The effect is removed when the druid enters combat.
  • Gaze of the Valkyra, Fury War: If the warrior kills an enemy within 8 seconds after the effect is triggered, he recovers 50% of his health.
  • Ashbringer, Retreat Paladin: There is a chance that the Ashbringer will instantly kill a small demon or undead near the character.
  • Call of the Eagle , Hunter: When the Hunter's health drops below 40%, an eagle comes to their aid for 10 seconds; fires no more than once every three minutes.

cosmetic effects

Artifacts also have some cosmetic effects associated with them in the game:

  • Paladins can see demons in Dalaran with Reveal the Light.
  • The air elementals in the Stormheim location are friendly to the shamans of the Elements branch.
  • Some classes have a special animation for the Withdrawn status (frost dk, druids and shamans of healing).
  • Some NPCs react to a character with an artifact. For example, an elven blacksmith in Dalaran admires Felo'Melorn (an artifact of the firebenders).

Introduction

Seven years ago at Blizzcon 2009, Cataclysm was announced. Among all the innovations that awaited the players was the announcement of the "path of the Titans", a new system of character development at the highest level. What little was shown spoke of trees (more precisely, circles) of talents that opened up as you completed various tasks, including those related to archeology. Those who play longer remember how it all ended. Path of the Titans was cut from the release of the third expansion to the game.

Apparently, the developers decided to return to the topic of an additional branch of character development, of course, with some adjustments. Indeed, we have a “closed” talent tree that needs to be developed. These talents guarantee some special abilities that can be enhanced. In general, in some respects, the concept has received a continuation.

The main thing about artifacts:

  • each spec receives its own artifact weapon (except for the fishing artifact, which will be available to everyone);
  • you can get an artifact by completing a quest that will reveal the unique features of your class and tell you about important characters in the world;
  • an artifact is your main weapon in Legion, you won’t have another (or rather, you will, but only to complete the starting scenario on the Broken Isles and quests to get the first artifact);
  • artifact traits increase various class abilities, while relics improve certain traits and increase weapon ilvl;
  • the power of artifacts is increased through Artifact Power (AP), the discovery of traits and Relics that can be installed in the sockets available on the weapon;
  • Artifact Knowledge (AK) is a system that helps players progress faster with offspec artifacts. You can get all artifacts for your class in the Stronghold;
  • Artifacts have different looks and colors that can be unlocked through different activities. You will be able to transmogrify the artifact, but other weapons cannot take on the shape and colors of the artifact;
  • leveling an artifact is strongly tied to the Class Hall, so to increase the Knowledge of an artifact, you need to make orders in the Hall for the corresponding resource.

How to get an artifact?

Everything is very simple. After the scenario, which takes place in the Broken Isles, you will immediately be given a quest in Dalaran. I passed it as a hunter. After choosing the artifact, another quest was received to complete in the scenario and at the first stage we needed to save Alleria Windrunner. At the end of the scenario, a "preparation" of a bow without traits was given. At the last stage, I was sent to the class hall, where the artifact acquired traits. Nothing special, just follow the directions.

Leveling and customization of artifacts

Artifact Power

Traits become available as you gain Artifact Power (hereinafter referred to as AP). It's not a currency that you collect and spend, it's more like an exp. As you receive it, you use it to unlock access to a new artifact trait. Artifact Power can be obtained through various items used (e.g. Dalaran Wine Glass, Brief History of the Aeons, Brief History of the Ages).

There is a bar in the UI (above the experience bar) showing how close you are to unlocking the next trait.

Items that allow you to receive Artifact Power are obtained in the following ways:

  • main quests / world quests;
  • chests of world quests;
  • hidden treasures;
  • random dungeons of normal and heroic difficulty;
  • drop from bosses in dungeons, raids, world bosses, rares;
  • class hall missions;
  • victories on the battlefields;
  • arena victories;

Once you've obtained such an item, click on it to add Artifact Power to the weapon you're currently wielding. If you want to add power to another artifact weapon, then you must equip it first and only then use the item. Artifact Power is a stat that is tied to a specific weapon and does not apply to artifacts for other specs. Artifact Knowledge is an attribute that you can level up and, as a result, increase the rate of obtaining Artifact Power from most sources.

Artifact traits

Artifact traits are special abilities that unlock over time on artifact weapons. Each trait requires a certain amount of Artifact Power. Each subsequent trait will require more and more Artifact Power. Each weapon has an Artifact Ability that can be unlocked that grants an additional spell, usually with a powerful effect. Some of them are passive, but for most specs they will be active spells that can be used. These spells are displayed on the information summary above each artifact.

Traits are, for the most part, passive abilities that enhance your class's abilities. Let's say they increase the damage of ability X by a certain amount. In order to see what traits are inherent in your artifact, right-click the Shift-clie combination on your artifact weapon. Remember that choosing new traits for your weapons can only be done at the Artifact Forge in the Class Hall.

Traits have levels from 1 to 3. To get a new level, you need to invest Artifact Power in the trait. Relics add "bonus" levels to a certain artifact trait. This trait can be enhanced up to 6 levels. Additional levels of artifacts that add relics do not require Artifact Power.

You must max out the trait (up to level 3) in order to continue unlocking traits. A total of 34 points are available to invest in the Artifact Trait Tree, and the path you choose to unlock traits depends on your choice. Eventually, when you get all 34 points, you will max out all the traits on your artifact weapon. Several traits have a border in the form of a golden dragon. These traits greatly enhance your class abilities (more than a normal trait).

After getting all 34 points for your weapon, you will gain access to a "bonus" trait with 20 levels. This Bonus Trait increases damage. More about this trait is described in the subsection below.

Resetting and redistributing trait points

You can respec/redistribute your traits (by resetting and reassigning points) for a price. Respec costs the same amount of Artifact Power as the next point to invest in your trait tree. For example, you have invested 18 points in your artifact tree and want to reset and reassign them. To do this, you must give as much Artifact Power as it takes to buy the 19th point for the trait tree - 24000 Artifact Power. This procedure will restore you 18 points, which you can spend on traits. It should be remembered that you will not restore Artifact Power, only points.

Since the cost of respawning your artifact weapons is high, it won't be as profitable. And in the end, you will open all the traits of your artifact. The order in which you do it doesn't really matter.

Trait Perks

The total number of trait levels you acquire increases the amount of stamina +/- damage dealt (up to the 34th point of your artifact trait tree). Healer and tank specs get 0.75% + 1% damage dealt per trait unlocked (25.5% stamina and 34% damage dealt on maxed artifact weapons). Priests of obedience as hybrid damage/healers gain 0.75% stamina and 0.5% damage dealt per trait, resulting in 25.5% stamina increase and 17% damage on a fully upgraded artifact weapon. Damage dealers get 0.75% stamina per trait, which increases stamina by 25.5% on a fully upgraded artifact.

Bonus trait

The bonus trait becomes available if you have received all 34 points for the main artifact weapon. As mentioned above, the Bonus has 20 levels and investing in it increases damage, healing and armor (depending on the spec). The system as a whole is similar to the "paragons" in Diablo III.

Getting the 14th trait requires a significant amount of AP (6480) - more than the previous thirteen (6500). Keep this in mind if you plan to play second spec regularly. Artifact Knowledge increases the amount of Artifact Power you can receive per day, which will significantly reduce the leveling time. At the maximum level of Artifact Knowledge, the amount of Artifact Power is increased by 6850%. For more information, see the Artifact Knowledge section.

Artifact relics

A relic is an item that works similarly to how old metastones worked. When a relic is inserted into an artifact socket, it performs two functions:

  • increases artifact ilvl (increases primary and secondary stats);
  • adds a bonus to a certain artifact trait.

The artifact has three relic slots, two of which are available immediately after you get the weapon. The third slot is initially closed and will open after you complete the Class Hall quest chain.

There are several types of relics and each artifact has a unique combination of slots that are related to a specific theme. For example, Shadowprism weapons have two Shadow and one Blood relic slots, while Frostmage weapons have two Ice slots and one Arcane. There are ten types of relics in total:

  • arcane magic;
  • Blood;
  • filth;
  • Fire;
  • Iron;
  • Light;
  • Life;
  • Shadow;
  • Storm.

Not all specs can benefit from a certain relic - it all depends on what slots you have on your weapon. By quality, relics are divided in the same way as items - unusual, rare and epic. They are given as a reward for completing quests, drop from mobs in the open world and from bosses in all types of dungeons, from 5ppl to raid and world ones. In addition, relics can be crafted. Most often, quests give relics of an unusual and rare quality, which have a chance to randomly upgrade to something of a higher quality, for example, instead of an unusual one, you will get a rare relic. Some crafting relics related to the worlddrop can be BoE and, accordingly, they can be sold at the auction, where a special tab is made for them.

Relic requirements may vary. Let's say an item with a level of 670 will require a level above 100, and a relic with a level of 730 can only be used by a character of at least level 105. In general, the ilvl of relics ranges from 670 - 895.

Relics that drop as personal loot guarantee a set of stats that match your class and spec.

Relics cannot be taken out and put back in. Like gemstones, they are destroyed when removed or replaced.

Each relic has an ilvl. At the start of the add-on, it will fluctuate between 670-895. The higher the level of the relic, the more it will increase the level of the artifact. For example, a level 850 relic will upgrade your artifact by 43 levels, while a crafting relic of level 805 will upgrade your artifact by 31. Relics dropped from bosses can randomly gain +5 additional points to the possible level of the artifact. Any Titanforged item can raise its level by more than 15 points.

The starting level of the artifact is 750 and this level will increase if you insert relics into the sockets. The maximum possible level of artifact weapons is 918.

Artifact Knowledge

Artifact Knowledge raises the amount of Artifact Power (AP) you can gain daily. An increase in the amount of daily AP is only possible after reaching level 110. There you will receive two quests that will allow you to open Artifact Lore Bounties in the Class Hall. The quests will also tell about the history of artifacts - as you progress, you will need books in which this will be revealed.

At the release, one Order will be available, which will be completed for 5 days. However, later this period will be reduced and it will also depend on how advanced the character is. The cost of completing an order is 500 units of Stronghold resources. In other words, every five days there will be an opportunity to increase Artifact Knowledge by 1 level. There are 25 levels in total. Each level will increase the amount of available AP obtained from different sources. The first level boosts AP by 25%, and at level 25 - 24.000%. It should be noted that stacking items that increase AP is not worth it. You will receive an increase for the level of Artifact Knowledge that was in effect at the time of receiving the item. Artifact knowledge will work for all weapons to make it easier to level for offspec. In this case, this rule applies only to one character, and not the entire account.

  • Artifact traits/talents (Traits) - improve the abilities of your class.

Artifact Power in WOW Legion

Artifact talents can be upgraded using Artifact Power. At the same time, Artifact Power is not a currency (it cannot be accumulated and spent), but rather looks like experience: by receiving Artifact Power, you unlock new talents in the talent tree of your weapon.

The current amount of available Artifact Power is displayed above the experience bar. Hovering over it will show you how many Artifact Power you need before unlocking the next talent.

Artifact Power in the Legion can be obtained through the use of consumable items, such as a Glass of Dalaran Wine or a Brief History of the Ages.

Items that give Artifact Power can be obtained in different ways:

  • Treasure search;
  • Missions in the class hall;
  • PvP victories on battlefields and arenas;
  • Completion of major quests or world tasks;
  • Chests for completing a series of local quests (for 4 tasks for one faction);
  • Additional goals and bonus tasks in the open world;
  • Drop from rares, bosses in Legion dungeons and raids, world bosses;
  • Passage of random dungeons on normal and heroic difficulty;

When you get one of these items, click on it to add Strength to the artifact currently equipped on the character.

  • If you want to add Artifact Power to a weapon in your inventory (an artifact for your other specialization), you must first equip that artifact before using the consumable item.
  • The power of artifacts is calculated separately for each weapon. That is, if you add 10,000 Artifact Power to your current Artifact, it will not affect weapons for your other specializations in any way.

The amount of Artifact Power gained from similar consumable items is can be increased with Artifact Knowledge. More about this is written in the corresponding section of our guide.

Each time you spend Strength on upgrading an artifact's talents, the cost of unlocking subsequent talents increases significantly. To pump the first talent, you need 100 units of Strength, and then this number can go up to 5,000,000.

Artifact talents (features)

Features (or talents) of an artifact - these are special skills that open as the artifact is upgraded. To learn each talent, you need Artifact Power, and as you level up more talents on one weapon, subsequent talents require more and more Artifact Power.

Each artifact weapon has one free talent (the very first one) that requires no resources to upgrade and gives you a powerful class ability. Usually the ability from the first talent is active and appears on your ability bar, but for some classes and specializations it can be passive.

Relic Effect #1: Item Level Up

Each relic has a certain item level - in beta it ranged from 670 to 895.

  • The higher the level of the relic, the more item levels it will add to the artifact.
    • For example, Soul Fibril (lvl 805, crafting) will add +31 ilvl to the weapon, and Flickering Spark of Time (lvl 850, drop in raids) will add +43 ilvl.
    • Relics dropped in dungeons, raids, and world bosses have a chance to be upgraded by +5 item levels when dropped. Given all the difficulty options, the maximum item level for these relics is 895.
  • The starting level of all artifacts is 750, and each relic inserted into the socket increases this level. The maximum artifact level that can be overclocked in T19 content is 918(with three improved relics of level 895).

Relics can be inserted into your artifact to increase the level of the item. Each relic also allows you to increase the rank of one feature of the artifact.

Relic Effect #2: Talent Bonus Ranks

Each relic improves a specific artifact talent. On the wowhead, a list of such talents can be viewed by selecting the “Upgrades” tab on the relic page. Thus, if you want to buff a certain talent on an artifact, you need to look for special relics.

  • The relic immediately gives an additional rank and increases it. If it was 0/3, it will become 1/4.
  • Relics do not allow you to cheat the talent system: if a relic turned a 0/1 talent into a 1/2 talent, you will still need to level up one rank to advance further up the talent tree.
  • One talent can be maxed out to rank 6/6. In this case, all three relics in the artifact slots must improve one talent.

How to get an artifact in WoW Legion

The first artifact in the Legion can be obtained already at level 100.

All classes receive their artifact through the completion of the introductory quest chain. In this case, you will need to use the unique abilities of your specialization.

For example, Survival hunters will actively use traps, and Assassination rogues will move around Stormwind in Stealth mode.

At the end of the quests, you gain access to the class hall, as well as learning how to operate an artifact and a command table for missions in the hall.

Obtaining the second, third, fourth artifact

After reaching level 102, your character will be able to get artifacts for all specs of your class. For most, this is 3 artifacts, for Demon Hunters - 2, for druids - 4.

To get the second artifact, you need to return to the class hall and take the task to select an artifact. The game will then prompt you to complete the quest chain for that weapon.

After receiving the second artifact, a chain will become available for obtaining the third (and then, for the druids, the fourth).

Note:

  • The chain for each artifact was created taking into account specialization: healers will need to heal the group, tanks will need to take on monsters, damage dealers will need to complete standard quests to collect items / kill monsters.
  • You can change specialization along the chain. That is, you can chain a healer in the dd-spec if you kill all the enemies before they destroy your group. However, this will not be the easiest task.
  • If you have multiple artifacts, they will be automatically equipped when you switch specializations. You cannot equip an artifact that does not match your current specialization.
  • Artifacts cannot be destroyed. Remember that each received artifact will always occupy one cell in the inventory.
  • Obtaining all artifacts available for your class is rewarded with an achievement Impressive arsenal .

Artifact Knowledge

Artifact Knowledge serves to increase the Artifact Power you gain from items over time.

  • Artifact knowledge becomes available at level 110. You will receive two tasks related to the fulfillment of orders:
    • Hidden History - Recover 4 volumes of lore scattered across Azeroth.
    • Digging in books - complete a work order.
  • Once both quests are completed, you can continue completing quests for Artifact Data, which will increase your Artifact Knowledge level.
  • At the start of the Legion completing one order for Artifact Data takes 5 days. However, the new add-on will implement a special system that will count the number of days from the launch of the Legion, and based on this number, reduce the lead time to 4 days, 3 days, and so on.
    • This system is designed for alts and those who will start playing much later than the Legion release date.
  • Each order for Legion Artifact Notes will cost 500 Order Resources (read Where to Get Order Hall Resources in Legion).

Legion Artifact Hidden Effects

Artifacts in Legion can have various hidden effects.

Here is what one of the developers of WOW Legion had to say about it:

"When dealing with items as powerful as some of the artifacts players will receive in Legion, no one knows what mysterious things can happen."

There are several speculations about what might be the hidden artifact effects in Legion:

  • Hunter's Celerity, Feral Druid: Ashhide's claws are imbued with the blood of beasts, granting 3% movement speed. The effect is removed when the druid enters combat.
  • Gaze of the Valkyr, Fury Ward: If the warrior kills an enemy within 8 seconds after the effect is triggered, he recovers 50% of his health.

Artifacts also have some cosmetic effects associated with them in the game:

  • Paladins can see demons in Dalaran with Revealing Light.

1. How much space does the artifact take up in the bag?

Two-handed artifacts obviously occupy one cell. But, interestingly, double artifacts (for example, Fist + Shield) also take up only one place in the bag. Agree, this is a nice space saver, especially if you collect artifacts for several specializations.

2. How does transmogrification work with artifacts?

You can transmog an artifact to another weapon, but you cannot transfer the Artifact Form to another weapon. You can use different transmogrifications for different parts of an artifact (for example, daggers for the right and left hands).

3. Can you change talents, relics or the appearance of an artifact anywhere?

So let's start with your first Artifact. The first time you will be given the option to select an Artifact is at the start of the main Legion questline. In it, you will gain access to the class hall, without which you will not be able to receive tasks in the future. Therefore, it is very difficult not to find the first Artifact, and you should not have any difficulties in obtaining it.

To get the second Artifact (both the third and the fourth) you need to get level 102. The NPS that gives the Artifact quest will be located in your Stronghold and highlighted with an orange exclamation point. It can be noted that the quest chain for the second Artifact is shorter than for the first.

Tasks for each Artifact differ significantly. To get Artifacts of Healers you will need to heal a group of allies, for Artifact of Tanks you need to tank something... By the way, you can do the quest for the Artifact of the Priest of Light while in the Darkness specialization, for example. Although these scenarios are tailored to a specific specialization.

But getting all the Artifacts is only the beginning.

The Power of Artifacts.

The main feature of the Artifacts is the talents built into it. Some talents simply increase ability damage or critical strike chance, while others add new effects to abilities. Some talents have levels (For example, the talent of the Warlock of Witchcraft "Unstable Witchcraft" - increases the chance of a critical hit of Unstable Witchcraft by 2%,4%,6% depending on the level of pumping).

To learn these talents, a new currency is needed - Artifact Power (SA). It can be obtained for completing various actions: completing a dungeon, killing rare opponents, completing certain tasks, etc. Each subsequent study or improvement of talents requires more SA.

It is important to know that CA is bound to the Artifact that is currently equipped on you! Fortunately, SA almost always drops out in the form of an item that can be used at any time.

Relics

Initially, you get an item level 750 Artifact. At the moment, this is more than seasoned loot from the mythic Archimonde, but in the Legion, of course, this will not be enough. To increase the level of the Artifact, you will use Relics - items that give additional characteristics to your Artifact and, accordingly, increase its power!

Each relic has its own element (light, darkness, fire, filth, etc.). And in your Artifact there are three cells that also have an element. It is easy to guess that only a Relic of Light can be inserted into a cell with light.

There are many ways to get Relics - mining from dungeon bosses, raids, completing tasks, etc.

Relics themselves also have an item level. The best ones will drop from raid bosses.

Artifact Knowledge

Artifact progress is very slow at the moment. SA is very small and it is tied to one Artifact, so it will be very inefficient to upgrade several characters at once, and just play in parallel for two specializations. To make life a little easier for those who like to play at once for everyone, there is a system of Knowledge of Artifacts. This feature increases the amount of CA received. To get it, you need to upgrade the character to level 110. And get SA on it to increase the multiplier.

But still, a better option would be to decide on a specialization right away.

The new addon is getting closer and closer, so we need to prepare for a new system that will haunt us throughout the expansion - Artifacts. Since they didn’t give me the key to the beta (I am a lucky person in life), we will have to rejoice in what we already have. Let's first understand what is an artifact?

The Artifact is the most powerful weapon ever used by anyone in the universe of Azeroth. This means that throughout the expansion, your artifact will be the best gun in the game. Therefore, the choice of abilities for pumping must be approached with special trepidation.

Artifact leveling

Artifact Power can be improved. To get the necessary Artifact powers you will need to actively participate in gameplay. After each pumped level of the artifact, you will have a choice of some talent that will improve your abilities or give some additional passive effect.

You can gain experience for Artifact Power from almost all actions performed in the game:

  • Various tasks (including World ones)
  • treasure discovery
  • Chests for world quests (after completing 4 world quests)
  • Walkthrough Random Dungeons in Normal/Heroic Difficulty
  • Loot from bosses and rares
  • Missions in your Class Hall
  • Battlefield victories
  • Arena wins

It is important! To improve your Artifact with an item, you must use the item while wearing the required artifact.

Artifact Abilities

A very important aspect of the game is the choice of talents and pumping your artifact. Artifact abilities are unlocked during the acquisition process Artifact powers.

Each time, accumulating the required amount of experience, you get the opportunity to choose the ability of an artifact. Each talent requires a certain amount of Artifact Power - each subsequent talent will be more expensive than the previous one.

Each Artifact has one free talent to learn. Usually this talent adds a strong effect to your current abilities. For almost all specializations, the first talent will be an additional ability, although there are exceptions.

Unlocking Artifact talents

  • Most Artifact talents are passive. Some, for example, are able to increase the power of your X ability for a while, while others will increase the proc chance of your Y ability permanently.
  • To see the talent tree of your artifact, click Shift-Right Click on your Artifact
  • The choice of new talents is possible only in your Class Hall.
  • Talents have from 1 to 3 ranks. Each rank increases the strength of the talent. But each new rank will require more Artifact Power.
  • Relics will add some "bonuses" to existing artifact talents. So, for example, with relics, you can disperse a certain talent right up to the 6th rank. (In the case when 3 relics are taken to increase the rank of the talent). Additional ranks, which can be obtained through Relics, do not require Artifact Power to unlock. Read more about Relics below.
  • You must pump all 3 ranks of your artifact talent in order to go further along the buildup branch.
  • Each artifact has 34 points that can be put into the talent tree. The free ability given at the beginning does not count.
  • Some abilities in the talent tree are circled with a golden dragon. These abilities are much stronger than others and will greatly affect your effectiveness. It will take a lot of time and effort to acquire such talents.
  • After you put 34 points of power into your Artifact, you will receive a special "Bonus Talent", which is designed to increase your overall efficiency. (more about it below)

Reset Artifact Talents

Sometimes there comes a time when you need to think about the correctness of your build. To do this, there is the possibility of resetting talents, but even here everything is not so simple.

  • Resetting talents is not free.
  • Resetting talents costs the same as you can be charged for leveling the next talent.
  • For example, you invested 18 points in your artifact and wanted to reset them. To do this, you need to download Artifact Power by the number of points that would be required to open the 19th talent. (According to the table - 24.000 Artifact Power).
    Resetting talents will eventually give you 18 points that you can invest in your chosen talents.
    note that the reset will not return you Artifact powers. You only get talent points that can be spent on building up the talent tree.
    The reset cost is incredibly high, so you should make a very conscious choice of talents every time you upgrade your artifact to a new level.

  • To reset your talents, talk to the NPC in your class hall.

Talents

Each upgraded talent in your Artifact raises your total Stamina and, in some cases, your damage dealt.

So for example, healers and tanks will receive +0.75% Stamina and +1% damage dealt for each selected talent in the Artifact (Total + 25.5% stamina and + 34% damage for a fully pumped artifact).
Priests of obedience will be an exception to this rule, as they are hybrids dealing damage and healing allies. Lords of Light and Darkness (remember, only obedience specializations) for each talent will increase stamina by +0.75% and damage dealt by +0.5% (Total + 25.5% stamina and + 17% damage for a fully pumped artifact)
Specializations that deal damage will not receive a damage bonus at all, only stamina remains for them. Like everyone else, for each talent, stamina will increase by +0.75%, which in total will give +25.5% for a fully pumped artifact.

Talent cost

The table below shows the cost of each artifact talent. After level 13, talents will increase in value exponentially. I draw your attention to the fact that 100 Artifact Power is needed for level 1, when 5.216.130 Artifact Power is needed for level 34. It seems we will have a long addon. 🙂

Bonus Talent

The bonus talent becomes available only when you have already pumped 34 talent points into your Artifact. Additionally, the bonus talent has 20 ranks, investing in which you can increase your efficiency. (Damaging characters will have a damage boost, healers will have a healing boost, and tanks will have survivability.) This system is a bit similar to the paragon system in Diablo 3.

In the table you can see the cost and stat bonuses for each level of the Bonus Talent.

The bonus to tanks with a shield refers to those classes whose tank specializations are intended for tanking with a shield (Paladin, Warrior). They will receive an increased amount of armor through the Bonus Talent. Other tanks (without a shield) will receive an increase in the amount of health for pumping the bonus talent.

Chips:

  • Please note that to upgrade an Artifact to level 13, 6.500 Artifact Power is required. This is comparable to leveling an artifact to level 14 (6.840 Artifact Power is required there). Therefore, if you want to play all specializations, you should think about leveling all Artifacts to level 13 before pumping the first one to level 14.
  • Do not be afraid of such sky-high figures for the required Artifact Power. To facilitate pumping, there is such a mechanic as Artifact Knowledge, which will eventually increase the received Artifact Power by as much as 24.000%! But, more on that below.

Relics

Relics are different.
green, white, red...

Relics deserve a separate article. In general, this is an analogue of stones, only more advanced. At the moment, two functions of relics are known:
1. Item Level Up (ilvl) Artifact, which in turn increases the main and secondary characteristics of the weapon.
2. Obtaining an additional rank for any Artifact talent.

General information about relics

  • Your artifact will have 3 relic slots (2 will be available immediately, and the 3rd will open after completing the campaign in the class hall).
  • There are many different combinations for relics depending on the Artifact. For example, the Shadow Priest Artifact has two dark relic slots and one blood slot, when frost mages have 2 ice slots and 1 arcane slot.
  • There are 10 types of relics: Arcane, Bloody, Corrupted, Fiery, Ice, Holy, Iron, Vital, Dark, and Storm.
  • A relic can only be inserted into a slot of the same type.
  • Relics come in different qualities: Uncommon, Rare, Epic. These relics can be obtained from quests, crafting, bosses.
  • Some relics are BOE (weave on use), so they can be sold on the auction house.
  • For relics, a corresponding tab will appear in the auction window in the "Gems" category.
  • As a reward for quests or through personal loot, you will only receive the type of Relics that is available for your current artifact.
  • You will not be able to pull relics from your weapons. Like gems, old ones are destroyed when new ones take their place.
  • Each relic has two effects, which are described below.

Relic Effect #1 - Item level increase.

Each relic has its own item level. It ranges from 670 to 895. The higher the level of the Relic item, the greater the effect of its use.

  • Increasing the item level of your artifact will increase the main and secondary characteristics of the item.
  • For example, the Flickering Timespark relic (Drop in raid) will increase your artifact item level by +43 item level, when the Soul Fibril crafting relic will only increase by +31 ilvl.
  • Relics that drop from bosses (raids, dungeons, world bosses) can randomly be upgraded by +5 or more item level when dropped. The maximum level of the Relic is 895. Relics that have leveled up by more than 15 will have the "Titan Forged" postscript ( TitanForged).
  • Your Artifact starts at item level 750 and grows with the Relics you slot into it. The possible limit of the development of the level of the artifact item is 918. It is reached at the 19th level of the artifact with three maximum possible relics.

Relic Effect #2 - Bonus Artifact Talents.

  • Each relic improves a certain talent. To improve a certain talent, you will need to hunt down a certain relic.
  • The relic will not only give a rank, but also raise the maximum capacity of the talent. (For example, if a talent has a maximum of 0/2, then after installing a relic in it, it will become 1/3)
  • Relics do not allow you to skip the trait filling mechanic, since it only works when the talent is completely filled with artifact points. (if you have a relic that increases the talent 0/1 to 1/2, then you will not be given the opportunity to learn the next talent in the chain until the talent becomes 2/2)
  • In the case when the talent can be pumped to 3/3, 3 identical relics will increase the level of the talent to 6/6




Artifact knowledge.

Another element of mechanics that you need to get to know better. Knowledge of the Artifact allows you to increase the received Artifact Power as a percentage.

  • The Artifact Lore mechanic becomes available at level 110. At this stage, two tasks will become available:
    1. Hidden History - You will be asked to find 4 volumes of history for your artifact, which are hidden throughout Azeroth
    2. Speaking to the Wind (Shaman quest) or the general quest Hitting the Books, in which you will need to instruct your associates to conduct literature research.
  • When the quest is completed, a further task for associates to complete Artifact Research Notes will become available to you. Using this item will greatly improve your Artifact Knowledge.
  • Each volume contains information about your Artifact - a good piece of lore.
  • At the start of the expansion, obtaining the Artifact Research Notes item takes 5 days. In the future, this time can be reduced, depending on how far you are behind with your Artifact from the rest of the mass of players. Also, such a system will allow you to download twinks and their Artifact Power faster.
  • Crafting Artifact Research Notes costs 500
  • Each such item increases Artifact Knowledge by 1 level, up to level 25.
  • This means that you will receive one Artifact Knowledge every 5 days.
  • Each level of Artifact Knowledge increases the amount of Artifact Power gained from various sources.
  • The significance of Artifact Knowledge cannot be underestimated, because at level 1 the increase is 25%, when at 25 it is already 24.000%.
  • Artifact knowledge cannot be increased:
    - All items in your inventory obtained before your Artifact Knowledge leveled up.
    - Level quests (one-time)
    - Hidden treasures
  • For the reasons described above, we can conclude that it is not worth salting items that increase your Artifact Power for later. After all, their power of these items will not change.
  • Artifact Knowledge works only for one character, but for all Artifacts belonging to him. Any other character must earn Artifact Knowledge on their own.
