Ori does not take damage from falling, even if it is completely from a great height. You need to fear death from falling only in a few moments of the game.

1 Skill Line (Attacking) - all improvements are aimed at destroying enemies and strengthening attacking skills.

Prologue


The story begins with how, during a storm, a leaf comes off the Tree of Spirits and turns into a white luminous creature, Ori.

There are destructible branches and stones in this room, you need to stand on them and provoke purple shadows to shoot at us, moving away in time. The shadows will destroy the nests of other shadows, all the way to the door. After destroying the door with the help of shadow shots, we move on.

We see how a dark creature dodges lasers and hides in a cave. We save in front of this place. While the first laser is fading, we jump down. From the lower laser, we temporarily climb the wall in the center, then we pass further.

We continue going west to stone map(activate it). We jump onto the wall on the right, at the top we make a long jump over the thorns to another log. We go down, then through the pool to the left.

4th floor. There is a little puzzle here: there is one shooting flower, they need to break dry logs on the way. We climb up, throw off the wooden stump down, then push it into the portal on the left, and wait for the flower to shoot, its projectile will be reflected to the left and destroy the rotten roots. Then we climb up, throw off the second stump. We drop the first stump into the teleport on the right, it will again be on the upper platform. We put the second stump under the flower. The projectile will fly through the teleporters and two stumps, and break a tree on the way. We enter the unlocked teleport.

11th floor. The water inside the tree is rapidly rising, we need to quickly get out to the top. We run away, using the "Strike" ability on the lanterns, shots and enemies. You need to get out of the location, dodging icicles, ice flows and landslides. We use the ability to soar and carefully fly up. Sometimes we release the feather for a while in order to descend and not fall under the icy streams. Using the pen, ride the wind and fly up. To the right is a rounded room, there we will find map fragment upstairs and stone map in the cave below (use the toad shot to get to it). We select three nearby Stone Keys (we are guided by the map), one of them is hidden behind an invisible wall.

We approach the side destructible wall, push the falling enemy into it. We delve into the location and find more multiple keys(note: you will have four extra keys needed for a non-plot door). There are many invisible walls in this location. We take a lump of wood, push it to the door.

We go down, with the help of a lump we close the malicious beam. We substitute the second lump under the air flow and go up, hammer in the wedge and close the last beam on the right with a lump. We break through the floor and open the way for the wind. Collecting two keys on the right, we go to the west, there we will find more two keys(one behind an invisible wall). To the right behind the door there will be an Ancestral Tree and a new skill " strong jump"(hold W and press Space). Use the new ability to break through walls, both horizontal and vertical.

Ahead will be the Well of the Spirit. Using the new ability, we break the wall: we cling to the wall (shift key), gain strength (hold "right"), jump (space key). We break through the floor, release the wind, climb up.

Important: at this point, the game is approaching the final part, if you enter Mount Hora, then you will not be able to go back. Therefore, if you want to explore the entire map and collect all the bonuses, then now is the time. Now we have all the abilities of the main character, and we can get to any secret.

We return to the location of the Upper Bogs and keep our way to the east. We cross a small reservoir with beams, after we go north. We must come to an old tree, in the hollow of which we found a part of the map, there we need to go up and to the left.


We jump over hot stones, starting from fiery projectiles.

We rise to the very top and to the right. So far, lava flows are hindering us on the left and right, but gradually we will lay them, visiting the side doors from top to bottom. At the top right, we blow up the wall with the help of a beetle.


Door "Tooth". We go into a new room. We go down two pits, in which descending spikes. At the dead end on the left we find map shard. We move to an unstable stone.

Secret. At the top above the stone in secret we find the Spirit Cell (15/15).

Sein will collapse the stone, new paths will open. There is a secret area at the top near the collapsed rock. We provoke the descent of the lifts and with the help of them we get back.

In the central room we go down a little lower, in the left wall we find stone map, restore it.


Door "Line and triangle". We go to the west, into the next passage. Using the lever, we call the platform, then press it again, jump onto the leaving platform and, having accumulated the Reinforced Jump (hold down W and then press Space), we jump on the second platform from above in time.


Door "9 points". We leave back and go to the next passage a little lower and to the east. In this room, we need to destroy clots of energy with their own shots. Do not forget to use the ability to hover (shift) more often. We hammer a wedge into a stone, it will fall and block the flow of lava.


Door "Square with a dot". We leave, we go to the west, we go into a new passage. We hammer in the wedge, the cannon with the beam will start spinning, quickly run to the right, pushing off the wall, jump onto the cannon itself, then to the left and hide behind the stone. After the beam passes, we throw off the stone and, hiding behind it, push it until we close the lava flow.


Door "Four lines". We leave back, we follow to the east and slightly down into the new passage. We delve into a new location until we find a lever. By pressing it, we cling to the platform, hiding from the rays on the other side. We climb up and throw off the stone. Exit back and head west.


Door "Two zigzags". In the new passage, we need to go through an obstacle course and use Sein to collapse the next stone.


Door "Point and three beams". We return back and move to the right and slightly down. In the new passage, we go forward until we find a stone that pours lava. We roll it back and throw it up (RMB), move to the right, throw the same stone on the next lava flow to run along the wall and press the lever. We throw a stone on the platform.


Throw the stone up. We use Sein, we throw off the next stone on the lava flow. We go back.


Door "Two Waves". We move west to a new passage. We go to the right in the new room, hammer the wedge, then quickly run away to the beginning from the lava flow. The way down will open, we hammer in another wedge. We return.


We go down, there we are waiting Mini boss #6 "Shadow with minions": it is helped by small shadows at the edges, but otherwise it is a good old shadow, which we defeated more than once, it does not present any difficulty. We use the previous tactic and deflect shots more often. After killing her, we will open the way down.

The final

All three elements are restored, it remains only to get to the Spirit Tree. But at that moment, Kuro arrives, and begins to hunt for us.

We run into the cave, on two fallen stones we pass further. We fall down, push off from the left wall to break through the right. We jump down the burning leaves, use the pen, but not often, so as not to slow down the movement. From the last sheet we dive into the reservoir, applying the stomp.

We surface, use the feather to fly up, temporarily hide on the ledge on the right while Kuro flies past. Charge up Jump Boost (W and Space) and keep moving up, pushing off the small fire rocks.



After the cutscene, Ori tries to fly to Tree of Spirits, but is intercepted by Kuro.

Kuro sacrifices himself for his chick and revives the Spirit Tree. Life and balance are restored.

Of the four years it took to create , Moon spent a year and a half just fine-tuning the mechanics. This time is definitely not wasted: Ori may look as beautiful as you like, but first and foremost it is still an exceptional platformer - balanced, thoughtful, complex.

Nature, your mother

In the center Ori and the Blind Forest- exploration of the vast world and the solution of platform puzzles. Not intricate puzzles, as in, but those that test your reaction and dexterity first of all.

Tiny Ori is tasked with saving his native forest from an impending disaster, and for this he must find three elemental spheres - water, air and fire. Ori is accompanied by the firefly Sein. He does not speak in verse, like Igniculus from, and does not get the squeaky "Hey, listen!", Like Link's fairy, but he knows how to destroy obstacles and beat monsters.

A touching introduction briefly tells about how the inhabitants of the magical forest lived before the cataclysm. As you can see, much better.

Ori moves smoothly from simple to complex. Ori and Sein learn new abilities, and these abilities are immediately reflected in the level design. Double jump and wall running are opened - and the game immediately finds a use for them. They allow you to jump away from enemies, launching yourself into the air like a rocket - get ready for tasks where you need to control the direction of the flight of projectiles, use monsters as trampolines and consolidate the acquired skill in the battle with the boss, whose patterns are tied to using a new skill.

Mechanics develop, supplement, intersect with each other, but all this happens gradually. New skills are naturally woven into the general outline, and after minutes there is already a strong impression that they have been here all the time.

When Ori finds one of the orbs, the forest waters clear up, hidden caves open up, and new problems appear - predatory fish, for example.

In such conditions, the open world works especially harmoniously. You constantly return to old locations and discover places there where it was impossible to reach with your previous abilities. The surrounding world evolves along with the main character, the filth that torments the forest weakens its grip. Places you've been to are changing, opening up new paths.

Ori encourages explorers: by being attentive, you will constantly find new paths and hiding places. After a series of difficult fights or another grueling platforming stage, returning to already completed locations in Ori is a very pleasant relaxation.

The "great evil" in Ori and the Blind Forest is the ancient spirit Kuro, blinded by hatred for everything that feeds life.

The farther into the forest

Ori can be called anything: diverse, thoughtful, breathtakingly beautiful ... but not simple. It requires good concentration and does not forgive mistakes. Here are platforms that open and close every time you jump. To them are added a couple of deadly rays, spikes underfoot and flocks of terrible crows, ready to pounce on Ori. Something didn't stick together - roll back to the checkpoint.

But the thought “they went too far” usually does not arise: in the design of the tests, Ori is honest and does not stoop to petty tricks. Didn't have time to react, jumped too early, didn't calculate the flight path? Himself to blame.

The forest thicket is perhaps the most atmospheric location. Ori manages to instantly get lost there: the map does not work, eagle owls hoot somewhere in the distance, and the forest changes every now and then, opening up new nooks and crannies.

A flexible save system comes to the rescue. Checkpoints in Ori are a kind of consumable resource. You can save almost anywhere (if only not in the middle of the battle), but mana is spent on this - which is also needed for Sein's spells. As a result, you yourself find a balance between strength and safety: either fly through all levels on courage, incinerating monsters with powerful combat spells, but risk losing everything you have achieved after one fatal mistake, or move quietly, sedately, remaining after each obstacle course, but losing in combat power. Recall how you neglected save points in or for more rewards and adrenaline. In Ori, it turned out very similar.

With such an impromptu parachute, you can cross large abysses and, in which case, quickly get away from enemies.

The further into the forest

Looks Ori amazing, and it's hard to say which is more impressive: the amazingly smooth animation of everything in the world or the fact that in this world there is not a single blade of grass that is the same. The jungle is replaced by underwater grottoes, volcanic caves and eerie forest edges with owls hooting somewhere in the distance and bats hanging on branches.

As a game, Ori needs a little time to accelerate: the same skirmishes with monsters at first are not very inspiring and even annoying. But soon Ori learns, for example, to break through the armor of strong monsters in a jump or turn their own attacks against enemies - and the tedious fights at first turn into an amazing dance. Amazing both externally and tactile sensations.

In the bowels of the volcano, you will experience one of the most intense moments of the game.

Ori can also be chided for preventing her open world from taking place as an open world. Nothing prevents you from straining and unlocking the map by 100%, collecting all its particles and keys to the doors, and at the same time developing Ori's abilities to the limit, but this is simply tiring. Closer to the finale, Ori literally flies through the levels, but when you abandon the plot and decide to purposefully search the opposite latitudes of the world, suddenly comes the longing for fast travel in any of its manifestations.

An important note for those who leave the secret nooks and crannies for later: after the credits, the passage automatically starts again. Keep this in mind if you are going to beat all the achievements, and before the ending, save to a spare cell.

In this puzzle, you need to control the flight of the projectile, from time to time redirecting it from one portal to another. One wrong move and you have to start all over again.

But all this is trifles. AT Ori there is little new and original, but almost everything that others have done before her, she retells with diligence and admirable talent. This is both a lovely children's tale and just an exceptional platformer. Handsome and refined.
