Google chrome java is not working. How to Enable Java in Google Chrome - Complete Guide

Antipyretics for children are prescribed by a pediatrician. But there are emergency situations for fever when the child needs to be given medicine immediately. Then the parents take responsibility and use antipyretic drugs. What is allowed to give to infants? How can you bring down the temperature in older children? What medicines are the safest?

Due to the fact that some versions of the Google Chrome browser do not support Java, a completely logical question arises - how to enable Java in Chrome?

The situation is quite standard - a person launches his favorite browser, wants to watch some videos or play a game, but is unable to do this, since Java is not included there.

On the latest versions Chrome such a phenomenon is quite normal.

In any case, it’s definitely not worth panicking and methodically reinstalling half of the programs on your computer. First you need to understand the cause of such a problem.

This will give you an idea of how to fix it.

Why is there no Java in Chrome

The reason for all this lies in the fact that since April 2015, Google has refused support in their browsers and other products of the so-called NPAPI.

This is such an architecture that a lot of different plugins and, in fact, all of Java uses.

For this reason, many videos, games, and simply additional features simply will not work in those versions of Google Chrome that were released after April 2015.

But there is still a way out of this situation and it consists in enabling support for NPAPI plugins in Google Chrome. Moreover, all this is done very simply.

How to enable Java support in Google Chrome

Instructions for enabling NPAPI in Google Chrome are as follows:

  • Actually, launch the Google Chrome browser. All further steps will be performed in a running browser.
  • Enter the following in the address bar: "chrome://flags/#enable-npapi". This is shown in Figure #1. This is very easy to do and shouldn't be a problem. After the request is typed, you should press the Enter button on the keyboard.

  • In the list that opens, you need to find the item associated with this same NPAPI. In Figure 2, this is underlined with a red line.
In general, they may be called differently depending on the version, but in the vast majority of cases they are called “Enable NPAPI”. Actually, all we need to do is just click on the "Enable" inscription, which is located under this item. In Figure 2, this is circled in green.

That's all. Now everything should work properly.

Clue: If foundNPAPIin the list that opens, it is not possible immediately, you should use the search by text. To call it, you need to press the key combination on the keyboardctrl+fand in the input line that appears, enter "NPAPI". After that, the search itself will indicate where the item we need is located and highlight it in yellow, as shown in Figure 2.

As you can see, NPAPI is on the list of experimental features. This means that by enabling one of them, the user does so at their own risk.

Actually, at the top of the page there is a detailed warning about this.

But there is absolutely nothing wrong with NPAPI and you can safely turn it on. There are cases that this way of solving the problem with Java not working in Chrome is not solved. What to do then?

What if enabling NPAPI doesn't help

The reasons for this problem are as follows:

  • The corresponding plugin is not included in the list of all plugins;
  • The plugin is not installed at all;
  • old Java version.

In fact, there can be no other reasons, except for some serious problems with the hardware of the computer, but they rarely affect Java.

It is also possible that this is the work of viruses. Then they should be removed by antivirus tools.

But all this is unlikely. Surely, the method that was described above or the three methods that will be described below will help solve the problem with Java in Google Chrome.

Disabled Plugin

From the very beginning, we will understand how to check and, if necessary, enable the Java plugin in Chrome.

To do this, type the following request in the address bar: "chrome://plugins/" and go to it.

This is done in exactly the same way as described above - we enter the appropriate text in the address bar, and press Enter.

If in the window that opens everything looks as shown in Figure 3 (there is a plug-in whose name contains the word Java), then everything is fine.

Otherwise, where in Figure No. 3 there is an inscription "Disable", there will be another inscription - "Enable".

Also, perhaps, somewhere nearby there will be an icon of a closed lock, that is, a blocked plug-in.

The user just needs to click on this very icon, after which it will be unlocked and will be available for use.

There you can also check the box next to the inscription "Run always".

Accordingly, after that, the plugin will automatically start when the browser starts.

Interestingly, the problem with the old version of the plugin or its absence is solved in the same way - by downloading from the official site.

Plugin download

To download and install Java, you need to do the following:

  • Go to the official Java website. It looks very simple - java.com. You can also add "/ru" at the end to immediately switch to the Russian version of this site.
Although, most likely, the site system will be able to independently determine from which country they come to it and in which language it is more convenient for this person to view the contents of the pages.
  • After entering the site, all that remains is to simply click on the single large button “Download Java for free”.

  • After downloading, you need to open the downloaded file, that is, start the installation itself. There is absolutely nothing complicated about it. After installation is complete, you will need to restart your computer.

Advice: If you do not want to do all the above manipulations, you can simply download an older versionGoogle Chrome(up to the 45th). There supportJavais in full.

The very first method of the above can be seen in the video below.

How to enable Java and Silverlight in Google Chrome

Starting with Google Chrome version 42, users have experienced Java and Silverlight not working in this browser.

Despite similar names, JavaScript has nothing to do with Java. It serves to activate and maintain the performance of scripts - small actions performed on the site. With its help, buttons are pressed on Internet pages, animation and pop-up windows work. At this time, Java is running much more complex applications, many of which have nothing to do with browsers. This article details how to disable and enable support for JacaScript elements and install Java in the Google Chrome browser.

JavaScript

JavaScript is configured using the standard Google Chrome interface. In order to enable its support on web resources, users need to get to the browser configuration page. To do this, follow these instructions:

If you need to disable JavaScript, check the box next to "Disable".

You can also enable this option only for certain resources that you fully trust. To do this, go to the "Manage exceptions ..." section ("Configure exceptions"). In the left part of the window, specify the address of the desired site, and in the right, select a personal rule for it. Similarly, you can disable the execution of scripts for some dubious sites.

Java

The Java machine allows the browser to execute fairly complex programs online. In order for it to work, it must be installed on your personal computer. To do this, users need to visit the official website of the developer https://www.java.com/ru/download/windows-64bit.jsp . Click on the big red Agree and Start Download button in the center of the screen. Include saved exe file and follow all Windows instructions Install Wizard (Windows Setup Wizard).

After the operation is completed, you will need to restart Google Chrome. In the address bar, type "chrome://plugins/" and press Enter. You will be taken to the page for managing browser service plugins. Find Java among them and click on the "Enable" hyperlink. Restart your browser again.

As it became known in the new release of the Google Chrome browser version 45, support for the Java plugin has been discontinued. This means that users who previously used Google Chrome to work in systems: Internet banking, tax reporting systems, public procurement sites and other services using Java plugins can no longer use the Google Chrome browser.

What solutions to this problem exist?

  1. Install an alternative browser (Mozilla Firefox, Opera, etc.), or use the standard Internet Explorer browser.
  2. Uninstall an updated version of Google Chrome and install a release that supports Java applets.

We will talk about the second point.

To continue using Java in the Google Chrome browser, follow these steps:

Step 1

So, first we have to download the distribution package of the program. You can download the required distribution kit from here:

Step 2

We remove the previously installed Google Chrome through the Programs and Features item in the Control Panel (Google Chrome must be closed).

After deletion, the Google Chrome item should disappear from the list of installed programs.

Step 3

We launch the previously downloaded distribution kit of the program and wait for the installation to complete. When the installation is complete, the installer window will close without notification, and a shortcut to the Google Chrome browser will appear on the desktop.

So, we have installed working release 44. But as you know, the browser is automatically updated through the GoogleUpdate service. You need to disable the automatic update feature of Google Chrome.

Step 4

Open the explorer, follow the path C:\Program Files\Google\Update, or C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Update and find the GoogleUpdate.exe file there. This file must be deleted.

If the file is not deleted, see paragraph

Google Chrome is installed, updates are disabled.

Now we need to get Java working and open our sites correctly. To do this, we need to enable the following feature:

Step 5

Open the Google Chrome browser and write the following command in the address bar:

chrome://flags#enable-npapi

The desired add-on is highlighted in yellow. We press the button Turn on under addition.

Then we press the button Restart that appears at the bottom of the browser.

You should now be able to use Java applets in Google Chrome.

Possible errors and methods for their elimination.

When deleting the GoogleUpdate.exe file, you may receive the error “The operation cannot be completed because this file is open in…”

This error indicates that the Google Update process is running in the computer's memory. We need to unload the process from memory.

To do this, launch the task manager (by pressing the keyboard shortcuts CTRL + SHIFT + ESC, or by right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting the item Launch Task Manager) and look for the GoogleUpdate.exe process in it

By clicking on the process with the right mouse button, we will end it by selecting the item End Process.

In the confirmation window, also click End Process.

Now you can

Hello everyone, today I will tell you how to enable Java in Google Chrome. The Java plugin is not supported in the latest versions of Google Chrome, as well as some other plugins such as Microsoft Silverlight. However, there is plenty of content using Java on the Internet, and therefore the need to enable Java in Chrome may arise for many users, especially if there is no great desire to switch to another browser.

This is due to the fact that starting from April 2015, support for the NPAPI architecture for plugins (on which Java relies) is disabled by default in Chrome. However, at this point in time, the ability to enable support for these plugins is still available, as shown below.

In order to enable Java, you will need to allow the use of NPAPI plugins in Google Chrome, to which the required one belongs.

This is done in an elementary way, literally in two steps.

  1. In the address bar, enter chrome://flags/#enable-npapi
  2. In the "Enable NPAPI" section, click "Enable".
  3. A notification will appear at the bottom of the Chrome window telling you to restart your browser. Do it.

After restarting, check if Java is running now. If not, make sure the plugin is enabled on the page chrome://plugins/.

If you see a blocked plugin icon on the right side of the Google Chrome address bar when you enter a page with Java, you can click on it to allow plugins for this page. Also, you can check "Always run" for Java on the settings page mentioned in the previous paragraph so that the plugin is not blocked.

Two more reasons why Java might not work in Chrome after all of the above has already been done:

  • An outdated version of Java is installed (download and install from the official site java.com)
  • The plugin is not installed at all. In this case, Chrome will notify you that it needs to be installed.

Please note that next to the NPAPI enable setting, there is a notice that Google Chrome, starting from version 45, will completely stop supporting such plugins (which means that Java will not be able to run).

There is some hope that this will not happen (due to the fact that decisions related to disabling plugins are somewhat delayed by Google), but, nevertheless, you should be prepared for this.

This is how you can still enable Java in Google Chrome.
